ATHE Level 4 Diploma in Computing and Practical Probability Theory
Introduction
The Level 4 Diploma in Computing and Practical Probability Theory (60-credit) offers learners a short but relatively extensive introduction to key Artificial Intelligence maths topics set against a backdrop of essential Level 4 Computing knowledge and skills. It is aimed at learners looking to undertake a broader grounding in key computing subjects with a preparatory interest in Artificial Intelligence-related maths.
As an outcome, the Level 4 Diploma offers learners current and integrated learning across practical probability theory, systems development, programming, data analysis, and relevant legislation/regulation. This qualification acts as a springboard into the larger 120-credit Extended Diploma. The qualification is suited to learners with a background in maths.

Programming and Scripting | This unit focuses on the principles of programming and scripting using Python. Python is a general-purpose language that is used for a wide range of contexts. For example, it can be used to create applications such as utilities, web apps and bespoke applications. It can also be used for scripting. For example, for one-off, quick scripts to solve a problem. It could be used to automate common tasks or to create data pipelines (e.g. ETL). It is commonly used for AI and machine learning, for data analytics, and for the creation of simple APIs and for DevOps automation. Data and Database Systems | All IT professional roles will bring practitioners into contact with data and databases. This unit introduces learners to data and database systems by exploring the concept of data, data modelling and creating systems to hold and manage data.
