ATHE and the Institute of Financial Accountants (IFA) have formed a strategic partnership to provide learners with high-quality, internationally recognised pathways in accounting, finance, and business. By combining ATHE’s regulated qualifications with the professional recognition and membership opportunities offered by the IFA, this collaboration creates a clear and credible route from education into employment and career progression.

IFA Direct, in partnership with ATHE, provides flexible and globally recognised pathways for learners pursuing careers in accounting, finance, and business. By combining ATHE’s internationally respected qualifications with the professional recognition of the Institute of Financial Accountants (IFA), learners gain both academic progression opportunities and industry-relevant skills.

Designed to support modern learners, IFA Direct offers accessible, online study routes that enable individuals to develop practical knowledge while working towards professional status. Whether progressing to higher education or advancing within their careers, learners benefit from a clear, structured pathway aligned with global standards and employer expectations.

IFA Direct is for you if you want to:

Achieve IFA membership

The IFA is a full member of the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC) the global accounting standard-setter and regulator. Membership delivers enhanced professional recognition and career prospects and in addition you will receive dual membership of the Institute of Public Accountants (Australia) and be able to use the designatory letters IFA AIPA or AFA MIPA dependent upon your eligibility.

Membership brings access to a community of like-minded professionals who benefit from supportive IFA regional networking events, expert technical materials and inspiring CPD events.

Gain an IFA practising certificate (UK members only)

IFA Direct provides an efficient way of obtaining an IFA practising certificate which means you can offer accountancy services to the general public and can do more than with many other associations and professional bodies. You’ll also be able to undertake charity independent examinations and be eligible to apply for a CAA ATOL licence.

Invest in continuing professional development

Investing in relevant and regular CPD is an important way to stay abreast of new developments and best practice in a fast-changing environment. It can boost your motivation and improve the quality of your work and the service you provide.

A one-off registration fee of £65 is payable to the IFA upon application.
