An exciting new opportunity for ATHE learners who want to study without taking a break from their careers

We are pleased to announce a new and exciting range of progression routes with University of Portsmouth, one of the Guardian University Guide’s top-25 UK Universities. The University also boasts a ‘Gold’ award with the Teaching Excellence Framework with an impressive 97.5% of graduates working or in further study.

Prog-to-work-1

ATHE learners are now able to progress from Levels 4-7 Management, Levels 4-7 Health and Social Care and Levels 4 and 5 Computing qualifications to a variety of Learning at Work bachelor’s and master’s programmes. This includes the University’s BA in Business and MSc in Professional Studies – a full list can be seen below. Additionally, learners are able to apply with Awards, Certificates or other combinations of credits, simply adjusting the number of credits that will need to be completed with the University before the relevant bachelor’s or master’s is achieved.

The Learning at Work courses are specifically designed for busy professionals who do not wish to take a break from their careers. Offering the ability to work flexibly via distance study, learners are able to set their own timetable and deadlines, tailor their timetable to suit themselves and their employer and study these qualifications from anywhere in the world. There is no need to attend University as most learning is online. However, learners are able to attend induction, taught units on campus and graduation ceremony if they wish.

Prog-to-work-2

The majority of your studies will be undertaken in the form of work-based learning projects, allowing learners to gain new skills and experience. Employers are also able to benefit from these projects. Past workplace projects submitted to the University have included titles such as ‘The implementation of an occupational health programme in a mining company in Ghana’, ‘Analysis and management of major risks in Mega Road Construction Project in Qatar’ and ‘Design and development of pneumatic test bench for cylinder test purposes’. You can decide your project in consultation with your tutor, who is allocated to you from the University, and your employer.

You can find out more about the Learning at Work courses by downloading the brochure here.

Enrollment is in January and September each year, so learners will need to ensure their application is in on time. Please find below a full list of the available courses:
