ATHE Level 3 Award in Introduction to Emerging Technologies
Introduction
This award (5-Credits) aims to provide learners with the necessary knowledge and understanding in order to investigate emerging technologies that are available and those that could be available in the future. Learners will also develop essential academic and research skills and to be able to formally present academic research findings, written and orally.
The qualification is a stepping stone to the Level 3 Diploma and provides the basis for learners wishing to pursue further studies in related fields such as computer science, information systems and digital media. It helps learners gain competencies that are relevant and up to date with industry standards, preparing them to meet the needs of employers in the digital sector.
It offers learners current and integrated learning across computing mathematics, cyber security, digital technologies and emerging technologies.
This qualification sits within a suite of ATHE L3 qualifications, which is called the International Access Programme (IAP). Learners may choose to study one or more of the qualifications in this suite.

This qualification is designed for learners who are typically aged 16 and above.
Qualifications
For learners who have recently been in education or training the entry profile is likely to include one of the following:
- 5 or more GCSEs at grades C and above or Grade 4 and above
- other related level 2 subjects
- other equivalent international qualifications
Language
For those whom English is not their first language we recommend the following standards of proficiency in English language skills or an approved equivalent for this qualification:
- IELTs 5.5
- Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) B2
- Cambridge English Advanced (CAE) 162 or above
- Pearson Test of English (PTE) Academic 42-49
